Someone To Tell It To cultivates meaningful relationships through compassionate listening and trains and educates others to do the same. In a world of increasing technological connection, we see that emotional and relational connections have become increasingly diminished. There is an epidemic of loneliness in the world and Someone To Tell It To strives to alleviate it. Human beings have an innate need to be heard, and Someone To Tell It To provides a compassionate presence and a listening ear, envisioning a world in which everyone matters, everyone is heard, and loneliness is diminished. Someone To Tell It To has three main goals.
The first goal is to provide individual (and group) emotional and relational healing when people seek it, through compassionate listening.
Secondly, STTIT trains others - individuals, groups, and organizations - to be compassionate listeners. Someone To To It To’s training course is designed to be a full-length listening seminar or webinar to answer the question that we frequently get, “What can I do to become a better listener?”
Here are the six steps we have developed that we know work to help people become better and more intention listeners:
Step 1: Start with a Belief
Step 2: Create the Space
Step 3: Ask a Question
Step 4: Listen Intentionally
Step 5: Reach for your tools
Step 6: Take Time for Self-Care Thirdly, STTIT strives to continually increase the resources it offers for people around the world to grow to know the power of intentional, compassionate listening and presence in all human lives such that everyone may have access to strong social networks for better health - through its podcast series, books, blogs, and speaking engagements.
Someone To Tell It To has had more than 20,000 listening interactions and hours with people sharing their stories, brokenness, losses, loneliness, and pain. It is the recipient of the 2019 “Listening in the Business Sector Award”, from the International Listening Association, an organization with members from 25 countries worldwide. It is also a “Central Penn Business Journal Nonprofit Innovation Award” nominee in 2022 and 2023.
