Our strong and vibrant MPI Chapter relies upon continued service from our volunteers which allows us to deliver high-level results to our members.
Serving on the Board of Directors is a significant commitment, but one that provides members the opportunity to learn new skills, grow professionally and personally, build their network and represents the voice of the Chapter’s membership. The 13 member Board of Directors is made up of 7 Officers and 6 Directors. Each position will take office on the first day of the fiscal year (January 1) and serve a one (1) year term.

Eligibility
- Member in good standing
- Willingness to give the time, energy, talents and enthusiasm required of the position
- Good organization skills
- Previous service (when possible) on the Board of Directors for VP or Presidential positions
General Responsibilities
- Serve as a voting member of the Board of Directors
- VPs and Presidents are members of the Executive Committee
- Act as a coach, adviser and counselor to assigned committee(s)
- Ensure the Chapter adheres to minimum Chapter standards as prescribed by MPI
- Report on strategies, successes and challenges of assigned committee(s) to Board of Directors
- Support and defend policies and programs adopted by the Board of Directors
- Ensure the fiscal responsibility of the committee(s) to which position is assigned
- Identify, recruit and train committee chairs & committee members
- Conduct transition meeting with successor before the end of your term
- Perform other duties that may be delegated by the President and/or Board
- Manage the progress of your team towards their goals
- Submit monthly Team Status Reports and agenda items for the Board of Directors meetings in advance of meetings
Time Commitment
- 1-year term
- Estimated 16-20 hours per month, plus board meetings/retreats and Chapter events
- Board members are not required, but should do their best to attend all Chapter programs and events - in-person board meetings are often on the same day as the programs/events either before or after and typically are approximately one-hour long.
- Board members are expected to attend the 2-day Annual Board Retreat (September - November 2024) as well as the 2-day Mid-Year Board Retreat (April - June 2025)
- Attend monthly executive meeting (VPs and Presidents) and any committee meetings
- Transitional meeting with successor
