AWARDS, NOMINATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Who Can Nominate A Candidate?

All Members can be nominated by their peer members. Nominators and nominees must have an active membership with MPI. Nominators can nominate as many members as they like (including multiple people for the same award, and even the same person for multiple awards - as long as they qualify).

Award Qualifications & Criteria

Planner & Supplier of the Year

Planner & Supplier of the Year are presented annually to members of MPIWSC in recognition of outstanding contributions to MPI’s Strategic Plan, association/industry/community contributions, leadership and professionalism.  The awards are based on chapter participation, presentations relating to the industry in general, articles written in the hospitality industry press, and community service. The awards recognize a career of involvement, commitment and achievement and recipients will represent models of professional excellence.

The qualifications & judging criteria for Planner Member & Supplier Member of the Year nominations are as follows:

  • A current member in good standing with MPI (meaning all membership dues are paid) for a minimum of 3 years of membership
  • Involvement with MPI Washington State Chapter during the 2019-2020 year
  • Leadership and service to MPIWSC
  • Professional accomplishments
  • Meeting industry service
  • Community involvement

Rising Star Award

The Rising Star Award is presented to a 3 years or less member of MPIWSC who made outstanding contributions to the Chapter during their first years as a member. This award is based on a very high level of chapter engagement, volunteering and commitment fulfilling chapter goals. Board members will not qualify for this award.

The qualifications & judging criteria for Rising Star Award nominations are as follows:

  • A current member in good standing with MPI (meaning all membership dues are paid) for 3 years or less of membership
  • Involvement with MPI Washington State Chapter during the 2019-2020 year
  • Chapter engagement and volunteer service to MPIWSC
  • Professional accomplishments
  • Community involvement

Corbin Ball Industry Leader of the Year

The Corbin Ball Industry Leader of the Year recognizes an outstanding individual who has devoted their professional life to the improvement of the meetings industry. The award is named after MPIWSC member and Past President, Corbin Ball, CMP, CSP, in honor of his significant contributions to the advancement in meeting planning, tradeshow and the event industry, as well as his overall industry leadership. Board members will not qualify for this award.

The qualifications & judging criteria for the Corbin Ball Lifetime Achievement Award nominations are as follows:

  • A current member in good standing with MPI (meaning all membership dues are paid) for a minimum of 5 years of membership
  • Displayed the unique ability to lead, guide, and teach others with enthusiasm
  • Has spent a significant part of their career furthering the meetings industry
  • Professional accomplishments
  • Meeting industry service
  • Community involvement

Volunteer of the Year

The Volunteer of the Year is awarded to a supplier, planner or student member (excluding the current Board members) who made an outstanding voluntary effort to the Chapter. This individual has been an active participant on one or more MPIWSC committees; designed, organized, delivered or administered new and ongoing programs MPIWSC; volunteers for other meeting industry or charitable organizations; and demonstrates a keen and sustained commitment to volunteering for MPI. Most of all, they should embody the spirit of volunteerism.

The qualifications & judging criteria for Volunteer of the Year nominations are as follows:

  • A current member in good standing with MPI (meaning all membership dues are paid) for more than 1 year of membership
  • Involvement with MPI Washington State Chapter during the 2019-2020 year
  • Leadership and service to MPIWSC
  • Professional accomplishments
  • Meeting industry service
  • Community involvement

Committee of the Year

The Committee of the Year award is presented to the committee whose efforts, initiatives, and creativity have resulted in significant contributions to the Chapter. All sub-committees will be considered including but not limited to: Programs, CAST, Advanced Planner Roundtable, The HIVE, Cascadia Educational Conference, Strictly Socials, Member Recruitment, Member Engagement, Volunteer Recruitment, Awards and Scholarships, Sponsorship, Procurement and Communications.

The qualifications & judging criteria for Committee of the Year nominations are as follows:      

  • Nominees will be evaluated upon goal achievement, committee member engagement, leadership succession and innovation or creativity.
  • Involvement with MPI Washington State Chapter during the current fiscal year.
