Networking in Action

Volunteer with your fellow MPI THCC members and expand your network!

Join your local Texas Hill Country Chapter members in giving back! We will help the San Antonio and Central Texas Food Banks sort and pack food items in boxes that will be distributed to the local community. Don’t miss our very first face-to-face event in months where you can have a direct impact on your city!

We have less than 20 volunteer slots available for each site, so register today!

After registering you will be required to sign-up to volunteer with the Food Bank (form link and detailed information will be included in your confirmation).

Texas Food Banks

San Antonio Members

Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 1:30 - 4:00 PM
San Antonio Food Bank
5200 Enrique M. Barrera Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78227

Groups and individuals work together to sort and/or pack produce, non-perishable foods, and household items, preparing them for distribution. Duties may include checking for expiration dates, opened packages and spoilage, labeling cans, and packing bags of food or household items. Other duties may include general cleaning of the area, breaking down boxes etc. This project is fun and rewarding for everyone.

Austin Members

Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:30 PM
Central Texas Food Bank
6500 Metropolis Drive, Austin, TX 78744

Volunteers work independently and in teams to inspect, clean, sort, box and prepare donated food and non-food items to distribute to our Partner Agencies and the communities they serve.

Photography for our Austin event will be provided by Rajeev Bector, OK Roger

Important Information

  • Volunteers receive crucial safety and orientation information at the start of the shift. We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early so they have time to get a nametag and be ready for a prompt start.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes as we will be standing/walking a lot
  • No smoking, food, or drinks in the volunteer area
  • Finally, all volunteers must meet our eligibility requirements (including those who have been partially or fully vaccinated). Volunteers will be asked to verify this when registering and again in person when starting their shift. These requirements state that:
    • For the 14 days prior to the shift, you have also not been around anyone who is ill, self-quarantining, or tested positive for COVID-19.
    • You are well for the 24 hours prior to the shift, and you have not recently tested positive for COVID-19.

Please contact education@mpithcc.org if you have any questions or need additional assistance.

We look forward to volunteering together to help Texas Food Banks.
