Here we are in the New Year! Our latest Volunteer of the Month, Jennifer Johns, is not new to the chapter, as has been volunteering with us for many years. One of Jennifer’s favorite volunteer opportunities was being in charge of registration, meeting and greeting the people she’s been working with, in-person. She has also enjoyed working on the Strikes for Tikes project that raised money for Sammy’s House – which provides support for medically fragile children. Sammy’s House is near and dear to her heart as her nephew was involved with the organization. Another fun fact, Jennifer’s mother, Janice Foster, was also a 20+ year member and served as our previous chapter administrator.
Jennifer has been working for the City of Austin for 16 years, rotating between the Austin Convention Center and the Palmer Events Center, working in almost every department including Events and Sales. She is currently at the Convention Center as the Department Executive Assistant and Project Manager. Jennifer is a seasoned professional at both locations, is able to fill in the gaps wherever needed, and is looking forward to focusing on more Project Management roles in the future.
Jennifer enjoys being mom to her 8-year-old son, who is in 2nd grade. She’s also on her PTA Board where she uses her convention talents on event logistics and creating marketing material. In her limited spare time, she also plays softball and volleyball and has recently started creating digital content as she has a knack for making things look pretty.
Please join me in thanking Jennifer for all that she does for our chapter!
