Diana, our second volunteer of the month, is also no stranger to the world of hospitality; as a self-proclaimed adventurer, she has chosen to take a few exciting career detours along the way.
Learning all the ins and outs of a multifaceted industry is no easy feat, but it can certainly be rewarding for those who aren’t afraid to take on a challenge. Focusing on the vendor side of the business, Diana gained the exposure she needed to experience all sides of event planning and servicing. In addition to her work in hotels and convention bureaus, she has owned and managed a restaurant/catering company, a professional endeavor that later led her to a unique opportunity as a meeting and tradeshow manager at a pharmaceutical company.
After taking a few years to work independently, Diana is now in search of her dream job -- a chance to become the meeting planner she’s aspired and prepared to be. Whether she chooses to make a venue comeback or pursues something else entirely, she is certain to succeed.
Diana’s volunteer contributions to MPI were evident long before -- 20 years, to be exact -- she moved to Texas. While living in Kansas City, she became involved with her local chapter’s membership committee and has also served on the organization’s board of directors. Crediting MPI as a great place for establishing connections and making long-lasting friendships, Diana has no doubt that her current involvement with THCC will bring her more of what she values and appreciates.
When considering her other loves, Diana can think of two favorite pastimes that stand out among the rest. She is a nature enthusiast who is never too busy to spend quality time outdoors, but when she has to stay indoors, she will opt for a used book store (the mustier, the better) and its trove of hidden treasures.
