For nearly 30 years, a guide called the “Negro Motorist Green Book” provided African Americans with advice on safe places to eat and sleep when they traveled through the Jim Crow-era United States. After the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964, the Green Book fell into obscurity and ceased publication in 1967. Now in 2021, the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion has brought about an awareness of disparities based on many other factors besides color/race. Inclusive environments create a “safe space” for various, diverse groups who prefer to be amongst others who have the same lifestyle and beliefs to name a few. Learn about the New Green Book coming in 2022, and the potential expansion to other cultures who may also benefit.
