Frequently Asked Questions

As with anything, you get out of it what you put into it.  As a member you are more connected to the meeting planner community and have access to education (including CE credits), development and networking resources only available to members.  And you are only allowed to attend 2 events per year as a non-member.  Check out some testimonials from current members about what they get out of their membership.

There are three levels of membership available; Essential, Preferred and Premier.  We highly recommend joining at least as a “Preferred” member because you will then be affiliated with and connected to our local chapter.  The essential membership is only a general membership with MPI and does not allow you to volunteer with our chapter or provide you discounted rates for attending chapter events.   Cost of membership varies based on planner/supplier status as well as the level you join.  Find more information here.

Although you are encouraged to attend as often as possible, there are no attendance requirements.  Various events are held monthly throughout the year and you are welcome to attend when your schedule allows.

Yes.  You can be a member of one chapter and be an “affiliate” member of another.  Click here for more information on affiliate memberships.

We strive to provide education that is relevant and beneficial to our members.  The events team seeks speakers with content that pertains to current industry challenges based on their experiences and suggestions from our membership.  There are also many online resources available through MPI Global.  Find more information here.

Current member numbers are constantly changing but our chapter has roughly 125 members.
The ratio fluctuates with membership, but it is roughly 50/50.
Roughly once a month, but this varies.
Cost varies depending on the type of event, but generally they range from FREE to about $65.  Specific information on upcoming events can be found here.

We offer sponsorships and advertising opportunities on various levels, either overall or for a specific event.  More information can be found here.

MPI is run exclusively by volunteers so we love to get members involved.  There are lots of opportunities to chair a committee, or just volunteer an hour or two when you have time.  Check out our volunteer a la carte menu here.
We do.  We run several programs throughout the year that support our local charity of choice.  There are many ways to help and get involved, including donating personal items as requested, financial contribution, donating raffle and auction items, and participating in hands on volunteering opportunities coordinated by our Community Outreach Chair.  Read more about our charity and how we are supporting them here
The board slate is determined by a group of past presidents of our chapter based on interest level, experience, recommendations and an overall desire to help make our chapter thrive.  You must be a member for at least a year to be eligible for a board position and we typically recommend you be involved on a committee level before joining the board.  If you are interested in hearing more, please contact the Immediate Past President.
We sure do, and we love to get our members connected.  Read more about our mentor program here or contact our VP of Membership directly to get started.
