Sulema Peterson | MPISSN President
Thank you for the confidence that you have placed in me and I look forward to serving you as this year’s MPISSN President! My focus this year is to lead our chapter as we navigate the re-opening of California and our industry meetings and events. We have a great team in our Board of Directors, all very talented individuals that are committed to helping our chapter and members succeed this year. I currently serve as Executive Director of a non-profit association, the State Association of County Retirement Systems (SACRS). I assist with all aspects of day to day business, membership retention/recruitment and produce all events and meetings. I’ll be celebrating my 20th year with the group next year and am so grateful for the time I’ve been with them. Of late, you’ll find me hiking our beautiful Sierra Nevada’s nearby in Auburn and El Dorado Hills with my family, spending time at the Old Sugar Mill wine tasting and listening to fun music and walking my morning route around Land Park. Walking has saved me this past year and helped me lose 45 lbs., it’s been a game changer for me with my mental health and fitness during the pandemic. If you are every looking for a walking partner, let me know, I’d love to walk and talk with you! I'm looking forward to serving our chapter and getting to know our members this year. Please be sure to reach out to me, would love to connect with each of you!

Lauren Siring | President-Elect
Part of my position as MPISSN President Elect is to ensure our members are supported along with our board of directors. In my role with the Monterey County CVB I partner with meeting planners to maximize our community for memorable group programs within the diverse destination. You can find me enjoying some of my favorite things Monterey: beach time with my husband and dog, wine tasting and kayaking in the bay. In the coming year I'm looking forward to serving with our esteemed volunteers and providing meaningful experiences for our MPISSN membership.

Rachel Hickerson, CMP | Immediate Past President
While it is bittersweet that this will be my final year on the board (at least for now!), I am so excited to see our rebound from the crazy that was 2020! This team has so much passion and dedication, we have a great year ahead of us! My current favorite things are wine, my frambly (friends that are really now like family) and anything related to mermaids (they are real!), unicorns or pineapples. Hey, it’s the little things to remind us to not take everything so serious!

I look forward to the challenge of navigating a post COVID-19 events industry with my amazing MPISSN colleagues and to my second term on the board. I am approaching my 4 year anniversary at Head Start California as Director of Events & Education. My hobbies include thrift shopping, all things Bravo and a newer obsession with my Peloton. My husband and I have a 13 year old son and 4 mutts that keep us on our toes.
