It is a bittersweet goodbye for Laurence Lavallée who recently moved to the big city of Toronto and joined the Institute of Public Administration of Canada as its new Events Manager. Lavallée will be working closely with the Institute’s 19 regional groups on various events, all while managing two national annual conferences. Having been very involved in the MPI Ottawa Chapter over the last five years—most recently as Director of Marketing— Lavallée is eager to continue her involvement by joining the MPI Toronto Chapter. She is very grateful for the many opportunities that the Ottawa Chapter provided for her to grow professionally and personally; plus, she is thankful for the amazing people she met along the way. Her passion for this industry has led her to a new adventure in Toronto and she looks forward to expanding her network in that city. While she will be missed in Ottawa, this is not a final goodbye! You can get in touch with her at llavallee@ipac.ca.
Another farewell is due. Thank you to Jill Garner, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, for her contributions to the Marketing Committee over the past years, most recently by sourcing unique and dynamic events to feature in her monthly Insider Events column in Conventus. Keep an eye out for her last article, to be posted in August 2019. We wish her all the best as she explores new opportunities outside of MPI, one being her work towards achieving her CMP designation! You can contact Garner at mpigala.jill@gmail.com.
Congratulations to Alison Peverley, who joined the AMMI Canada team in the role of Meetings and Membership Coordinator in late February. With things well underway already, she jumped in just in time for its annual conference in early April. She has stepped back from the New Member Spotlight in Conventus to focus on her new role, and we'd like to thank her for her dedication to the committee. Peverley is excited to thrive in this new opportunity and can be reached by email at alison@ammi.ca.
The Marketing Committee is recruiting members to join their team as a Writer! Are you looking to get involved with a committee but aren’t sure about the physical commitment? This a great opportunity to volunteer if you are tech-savvy, have an interest in writing or sharing your thoughts and/or find it challenging to make many in-person meetings / events but still want to be involved. There are several opportunities available (take a look here) and we invite interested members to find more information on volunteering and to apply HERE !
