MPI Ottawa Charity Auction and Community Outreach

Each year the MPI Ottawa Chapter contributes to local charities. Our membership assists the committee in determining the specific charities for which monies will be raised and distributed.

Charities we are currently supporting in 2024 are:

    1. Hopewell Eating Disorder Support Center
    2. Kiwanis Club of Ottawa (Christmas Basket Program)
    3. Moisson Outaouais
    4. MPI Foundation
    5. Ottawa Food Bank
    6. Ottawa Network for Education (School Breakfast Program)

    How We Contribute

Proceeds from our major annual fundraising event, the annual Charity Auction and Dinner, are distributed amongst the following charities: the Ottawa Network for Education’s School Breakfast Program, the Hopewell Eating Disorder Support Center, the Ottawa Food Bank, Moisson Outaouais, and the MPI Foundation.

The Committee also acts as liaison between several other local charities to announce and coordinate on-site volunteer activities between the charities and chapter members. On-site volunteer opportunities are announced regularly in the MPI Ottawa Express eblast or please reach out to the committee at communityoutreach@mpiottawa.ca for more information.

How we choose the charities to support:

Every 2 years, the chapter membership is solicited to provide suggestions and determine which charities that they would like to support. The following are the parameters used to help guide the selection process:

    • Have its head office or satellite office in Ottawa
    • Work to improve the quality of life for families, children or the elderly in our community
    • Receive little or no support from government or from official funding agencies
    • Use MPI Ottawa’s donations to make a difference within the community and in turn, make a significant impact within the organization chosen
    • Be a project or foundation which supports the MPI community
