Effective March 12, Melanie Hudson retired from her position as Facilities and Events Planning Officer at the National Association of Federal Retirees. Her replacement is Aaron Wise, who can be reached at awise@federalretirees.ca. Since 1985, Hudson has planned meetings for several associations including the last 12 years with Federal Retirees. She joined MPI Ottawa in 1992 and has been a loyal volunteer for more than two decades. Hudson’s plans this summer include exploring many provincial campgrounds of Ontario and Québec with her husband and they hope to start travelling internationally next winter. She will miss her MPI peeps and experiencing the in-person reunions that are just around the corner, but they know how to find her on Facebook.

Events Professionals Resource
The Events Industry Council (EIC) released the Resources for B2B and B2C Exhibitions Accepted Practices Guide. It is the latest guide produced by EIC’s APEX COVID-19 Business Recovery Task Force.
The guide examines the current state of trade shows and exhibitions followed by risk management tools and phases for recovery. Similar to other APEX resource guides, the sections are filled with industry resources, best practices and case studies.
TIAC News
TIAC’s recovery committee has released their 2021 Tourism Recovery Plan 2021 TIAC Tourism Recovery Plan (filesusr.com) and is engaging Members of Parliament across all parties to support the measures outlined in this plan. The full report has been shared with MPs and is available for download at tourismcounts.ca.

Did you know that the new Ottawa Public Library - Library and Archives Canada Facility is set to be one of the country most sustainable buildings?
Keep features are
upgrades to the building’s envelope and insulation;
triple-glazed windows;
solar panels on the rooftop and embedded in the facade;
additional sustainable materials; and
an indoor green wall.
Encompassing over 216,000 square feet, the new building will feature shared spaces, such as the Town Hall, café and large multi-purpose meeting areas, along with spaces devoted to specific uses of the Ottawa Public Library and Library and Archives Canada. Read more about the spaces below.
