News Around Town – July 2019

Tourism London extends a warm thank you to Marc Forgette for his four years of service representing London in the Ottawa market. On June 24, he embarked on a new journey with his own business. Makatew Workshops will host Indigenous workshops on creating items such as hand drums, moccasins, medicine bags, rattles and dreamcatchers, just to name a few. Congratulations to the MPI Ottawa Chapter members who were involved in planning the EVENT which wrapped up its second year in Montréal in April. The EVENT won the Rise Award for Innovation Educational Programming at the recent MPI World Education Congress in Toronto! This unique conference brings three chapters together, MPI Ottawa Chapter, MPI Toronto Chapter and MPI Montréal & Quebec Chapter, for two incredible days of collaboration and learning. Congratulations to all who played a role in making the EVENT come alive. Looking ahead, Toronto will host the next EVENT from April 2-4, 2020.

Congratulations to Katherine Craig who recently accepted a position as Community Engagement Coordinator with the CHEO Foundation. Craig’s creative thinking, combined with her organizational and interpersonal skills, is a combination that the Foundation will take advantage of to grow the community engagement portfolio in the coming years.
