Basic details of the Unique Interprovincial Project:

Title: Interprovincial Zipline - Interzip Rogers

City, Country: Ottawa-Gatineau, Canada

Host Venue:  40 Rue Jos-Montferrand in Gatineau at Zibi Development Site

Organizing Team:

Opening Date: Wednesday June 23rd 2021

Specific Project’s Questions:
Alex Van Dieren

When was this idea first proposed?

The idea was proposed three years ago, in December 2017. Ottawa-Gatineau is a destination on its own and the idea was to bring something new in terms of tourism outreach to the Outaouais region. We wanted to highlight the beautiful river that our two provinces share.

Who was the target audience?

Our target audience is everyone from seven to 70 years old. The Zipline is an extremely safe activity that all age groups can enjoy.

What was the main objective of this project?

As the only urban Zipline of its kind, it is a unique activity. It symbolically ties the two provinces (Ontario/Quebec) and the two cities (Ottawa/Gatineau) together.

What was different about this specific project for you?

This unique project gained national attention and we have received a very quick and positive response from our audience without even having announced an opening date. The operations team is preparing for a large influx of local tourists and curious adventurers of all ages.

What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome?

First, the biggest obstacle was the complexity of the project in terms of permits and approvals. The challenge was to comply with the common regulations and standards of two provinces and two cities at the same time.

Another challenge was the technical aspect of the installation. We are deploying the latest technology in terms of infrastructure & security features.

What was your biggest triumph?

First, the biggest triumph was the quick endorsement of the project by the people of the region; people were saying “It’s cool, fun, refreshing”.

Secondly, we were proud to have two tourism organizations, Quebec (Tourism Outaouais) and Ontario (Tourism Ottawa), gathered around the same table, working on the same project and with the same mission objectives.

Did you do anything new or innovative? If so, how did it go?

The new and unique initiative was to unite two provinces and the Outaouais region in one common project.

Last words

We hope that people will enjoy and discover our beautiful Outaouais region from another angle. The view from the top of the tower is incredible. The Zipline is for everyone, locals and tourists alike.
