About Aicha

I was born in Djibouti (Republic of Djibouti) the East of Africa, grew up in this small beautiful country, and went to school until the University degree. I have an amazing family, my 5 kids and my husband.

I came to Canada, this fabulous country, in June 2011.

Career Path

As I have two different diplomas, University degree’s. I get my first diploma in Tourism on June 2001. And this path introduces me to join the Hotel Industry. And earned my second diploma in Law in 2008 at the U.P.M.F. (Université Pierre Mendès France à Grenoble – France).

I worked in the Sheraton Djibouti Hotel (July 2001 to June 2001), almost 10 years. Then, when I immigrated to Canada, I had the chance to work in different hotels (Four Points Gatineau/Ottawa, Ramada Plaza Le Manoir du Casino and DoubleTree by Hilton Gatineau/Ottawa). And now, back at the Ramada Plaza Gatineau, with 17 years of experience in hospitality and event planning.

Social Media

What social media platforms do you recommend?

Linkedin is my favourite Social Media, every time I need to know about clients or people, each profile gives you amazing information.

Inspiration

What is one dream you've seen fulfilled?

I successfully completed 1000 rate agreements for groups in one year-2018, that was a big dream and I made it.

Professional

What is your best way to tame your nerves before a work event?

The experiences I have had in different events give me a lot of perfect practices. It’s taught myself to take the time to understand and prepare properly.

Personal

What is the advice you would give to your younger self?

Be honest, trust yourself, work hard and respect everyone around you. Work hard and the success will come for sure.

Networking

What’s your favourite 'icebreaker question' at a networking event/best conversation starter?

My technique is S.A.F.E: Asking about his Situation; Activities; Family and Current Event. The weather is a favourite icebreaker question at a networking event.
