What are the benefits of being a member of MPI-HAC?

Membership with MPI-HAC has a multitude of benefits, including being a chapter of the world’s largest association for the meeting and events industry (MPI). Main benefits include access to a member directory, industry research, education on-demand, CMP assistance, and more! MPI is committed to empowering its members to increase their strategic value with education, professional development, and business growth opportunities.

I’m a member of another MPI chapter. Can I come to MPI-HAC events?

Absolutely! When registering, just indicate that you are an MPI Member.

What is an affiliate membership?

If you have a full membership with another MPI Chapter, you are eligible for an affiliate membership with MPI-HAC. Formerly known as a subscriber member, this membership type allows you to hold membership with multiple MPI chapters. Benefits include invitations to all MPI-HAC meetings and events, access to the member directory, and advertising/sponsorship opportunities.

Are discounts available for multiple members within the same organization?

MPI Corporate Membership delivers savings for Planner and/or Supplier Preferred memberships for businesses with multiple meeting and event professionals on staff. Corporate membership levels are based on the number of individuals included in the package and will be provided a single invoice.

What types of events does MPI-HAC host and how frequent are they?

The Houston Area Chapter of MPI hosts at least one event per month. Within a calendar year, we host about sixCAP’D luncheons, four MPI Socialites events, and three special events, including the annual Taste of Houston in September, Jingle Mix & Mingle in December, and a Night Among the Stars in May.

What does CAP’D mean?

Career Advancing Professional Development (CAP’D) is our newly branded education series, formerly the Monthly Educational Luncheons. While it is still the same format, we’ve evolved the program to include more networking time and to become the go-to events for pertinent meetings industry education in Houston. 

What about MPI Socialites?

This is our newly branded series of social networking events, aimed to foster the human connection between planners and suppliers within the Houston meeting and events industry. 

Is MPI-HAC accredited with the Convention and Industry Council?

MPI-HAC became a CMP Preferred Provider in 2015. Keep an eye out for CAP’D events that count towards continuing education credits with the Convention and Industry Council (CIC). The chapter uploads these CIC credits for you post event as an added benefit to our membership.
