MPI Announces Organizational Change

Dallas, TX, July 27, 2021: Meeting Professionals International, the world's largest industry association for meeting and event professionals, announces its COO will be resigning.
After serving Meeting Professionals International (MPI) for the past seven years, Darren Temple, chief operating officer, has resigned his position to lead Switch US, an established experiential marketing agency in St. Louis as President and CEO. His departure is effective Friday August 6th .
Paul Van Deventer, chief executive officer, shared the news as both bittersweet and exciting. “While I am sad to be losing Darren from our team, I am very excited for him as this is a well-deserved and unique opportunity to lead a global agency that has an impressive history of success and innovation,” said Van Deventer.
Temple echoed that sentiment while offering his immense respect and passion for MPI and its ongoing commitment to serve the global meeting & events community. “Words cannot begin to describe the love, appreciation, and gratitude I have for MPI and those that support it. Even in my new role, my commitment is to stay involved, engaged, and supportive of this association I love so much,” shared Temple.
Van Deventer shared there are currently no plans to backfill the COO role. “MPI is very fortunate to have a strong, deep, and tenured senior leadership team that will continue to lead and advance this association.”
