Don’t miss the 2022 calendar kick-off at the Wilderness Resort and the Glacier Canyon Conference Center on Thursday, January 20th!

Conflict is a normal part of human existence, so why are some people not good at dealing with it?  Michael Rust from the Winnebago Conflict Resolution Center will take us on a deeper dive into that question with his program Conference Conflicts, Meeting Mayhem, and Office Opposition: A Guide Towards Resolution.  We will engage in lively discussion on working with specific categories of people in conflict, such as clients, co-workers, and even volunteers. Participants will also have an opportunity to test out some new communication tools to help in resolving future conflicts. All this and have some fun too!

And you won’t want to miss the Team Building Sneak-Peek following the reception!  Stick around and see how you can use the various opportunities on property at The Wilderness Resort to enhance or be the focal point of your team building experience and group activities.

Conference Conflicts, Meeting Mayhem, and Office Opposition: A Guide Towards Resolution

Conflict is a normal part of human existence, so why are some people not good at dealing with it? Meeting professionals deal with conflict on a lot of fronts. Maybe the venue is understaffed for your event, the client changes their mind on theme at the last minute, the event volunteers are sure that they "know how to do it" better than you, the co-worker isn't pulling their weight around the office, and so much more. This session will dig into many of the common causes of workplace and event conflicts and give you strategies so you can "Stop Conflict C.O.L.D." We will engage in lively discussion on working with specific categories of people in conflict, such as clients, co-workers, and even volunteers. Participants will also have an opportunity to test out some new communication tools to help in resolving future conflicts. All this and have some fun too!

Learner Objectives:

  • Understand many of the most common causes of conflict and how to prevent causing future conflicts
  • Develop better communication skills to assist in the resolution of conflicts
  • Engage in specific conversations on working with volunteers, co-workers, and clients when conflicts arise
