There’s no better way to get a new year started off on the right foot than with a celebration of the previous year’s accomplishments or, in the case of MPI THCC, the well-deserved recognition of Tammy Srubar as the chapter’s newest volunteer of the month.
The meetings and events industry, where she has worked for over two decades, has given Tammy much to reflect back on and look forward to over the years. The relationships she has built and the knowledge she has gained along the way helped her become who she is today — a sales manager at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort in Boerne, Texas — and, most importantly, a hospitality professional in every sense of the word. In turn, Tammy has made a commitment to give back to the community she cares so much about. Throughout her 10-year membership with MPI, she has volunteered for several committees and is currently serving on the 2020-2021 MPI THCC Board of Directors. And even as she is working toward her long-term goal of advancing into upper management to become a general manager, Tammy continues to help those who are new to the industry learn, grow and follow in her footsteps.
Though she grew up in Houston, Texas -- where her fondest (and most surprising of) memories include cute neighbour and future “Dirty Dancer” Patrick Swayze -- Tammy feels most at home on a sandy beach with crystal-clear water. Now that a swim with dolphins and cruising have been checked off her bucket list, she can look forward to planning a future getaway to Destin, Florida or Cancun, Mexico with her family.
