Dear Members,
The discussion has shifted to getting the country back to work, which I believe is a positive sign! Of course, we remain cautiously optimistic, but from an overall business perspective, this discussion is very promising! We are all going through the most difficult time in our professional lives. We’ve all been affected by this pandemic and the economic collapse, but we will get through this together.
The Office of the President, which consists of the president, the president-elect and the past president, conducted the first in a series of town halls. To remain transparent with our members during this difficult time, we provided an update on where we are financially. This chapter has been in existence for 36 years; however, the reality is that if we don’t develop a contingency plan, we won’t be able to ensure that our chapter will be here next year and for the next generation. Our plans are in place, and with the full support of the board, we will freeze all spending outside of monthly operating costs until December 31.
We will continue conducting monthly town hall meetings while being transparent and communicating with our members on a regular basis during this crisis.
Financially, we are OK and will weather these uncertain times. It’s not business as usual, but the business of the chapter still needs to get done. We have to be realistic. Your board has the best interest of the chapter at heart, so we will continue making decisions that position it for future success.
We all miss in-person meetings, and I know we will attend as many as we can when it’s safe to do so. There are so many unknowns, and it will take time and money, but we are a resilient industry in the end.
Let us know how we can help. Stay well. Remember that we’re stronger together.
Sincerely,
Marcia Williams, CMM, CMP
2019-2020 MPI THCC President
