Awards Process

The Awards Program recognizes outstanding members of the Meeting Professionals International Rocky Mountain Chapter (MPIRMC) who exemplify achievement and service to their profession, MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter and the community. Recipients will be announced at the Annual Awards Ceremony and Gala. Nominations are urged from the entire membership. The awards will be determined in strict accordance with the criteria described below.


General Award Criteria

  • Nominations are accepted for the following awards: Supplier of the Year, Planner of the Year, Rising Star, and Committee Chair of the Year
  • Nominee may not be a member of the Awards Committee
  • Past award recipients will be eligible to receive the Planner or Supplier of the Year award 5 years from the date of their previous award
  • Nominee must be a current member of MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter

Planner of the Year

This award is given to an exceptional MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter planner member who through their volunteer efforts has made outstanding contributions to the chapter and industry and demonstrated unparalleled commitment to the advancement of MPI’s first chapter the Rocky Mountain Chapter. The nominee must be a current, active and responsible member of MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter for a minimum of three (3) years. NOTE: Previous recipients are eligible for this award five years or more after their original receipt of the award.

Supplier of the Year

This award is given to an exceptional MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter supplier member who through their volunteer efforts has made outstanding contributions to the chapter and industry and demonstrated unparalleled commitment to the advancement of MPI’s first chapter the Rocky Mountain Chapter. The nominee must be a current, active and responsible member of MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter for a minimum of three (3) years. NOTE: Previous recipients are eligible for this award five years or more after their original receipt of the award.

Rising Star

This award recognizes an individual that has been a member of MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter for less than three (3) years. This individual is recognized for having made outstanding contributions to MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter and to the meeting industry. The nominee must be a current, active and responsible member of MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter.

Outstanding Committee Chair

This award will recognize the achievement and accomplishments of MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter committee chair(s) that contributed to the overall development of the chapter and/or its members. Recipient(s) will have displayed innovation and creativity in the development, planning and execution that resulted in the effective delivery of business-to-business opportunities between members, member engagement, community outreach and/or displayed member growth. The committee contribution must have occurred between May 1st and April 30th.


Non-Member Nominated Awards:

Industry Partner of the Year

This award recognizes an industry partner whose involvement and support of the chapter is outstanding. It is up to the awards nominating committee to choose the award recipient. This is not a member nominated category. (rental company/caterer/décor co/etc)

Hospitality Award of Excellence (Venue)
This award will recognize a host facility for demonstrated achievement in service and creative excellence and for providing a high quality experience for the MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter community. Recipient(s) will have displayed innovation and creativity in the development, planning and delivery of a superior meeting, educational or, entertainment event which contributed to the overall impact of the chapter’s membership activities. To be considered, the venue host must submit a document that addresses their contributions to the chapter based upon the above criteria. The event for consideration will have occurred between May 1st and April 30th.

  • Larger – 50+ (attendance at event)
  • Smaller – 49 or below (attendance at event)

Industry Legacy Award in Honor of Sandy Gerety

This award is presented to someone who has exhibited exemplary service to our industry throughout their career. It is up to the awards committee to choose the award recipient.

President’s Award of Excellence

The President may select up to three (3) recipients of a special recognition award aptly named, the President’s Award, and at his/her discretion.
