MPI Pittsburgh has always had a strong student membership, and we’re excited to launch a new student sponsorship initiative that allows professional members to become a student sponsor. We hope to make MPI Pittsburgh student membership and involvement more accessible.
Student memberships are available to those enrolled in a post-secondary academic program with an emphasis on the meeting, hospitality, events, and tourism-related industries leading to a qualification as a regular member. Unless the educational institution defines it otherwise, the student must be enrolled in a certificate, undergraduate or graduate program. After graduation, the student member will be eligible for the student-in-transition program, which offers a professional membership at a discounted rate.
The student sponsorship initiative allows students to apply for financial assistance to cover the cost of an annual student membership ($40) and/or financial aid to cover the student event registration for MPI Pittsburgh education and networking events.
MPI Pittsburgh professional members can become student sponsors for $50 per student. Of that amount, $40 will cover the MPI Pittsburgh student membership cost, and $10 will go to a fund that will provide financial assistance for students to attend the chapter’s education and networking events. Professional members are welcome to sponsor multiple students for additional payment(s) of $50.
