MPI Pittsburgh will have a panel of four professionals, a moderator, and YOU. Listen and learn from industry experts & experiences with event horrors and share your professional experiences for an open conversation and learning opportunity for all. After our successful Meeting Planner Horror Stories event last October, we areexcited to announce the topic of October’s Education meeting; “Event Horrors.” This meeting is our annual "education meets networking" style event. Join us for an evening of networking, delicious hors d’oeuvres, an event horrors panel, MPI Pittsburgh members and guests. Come with questions to ask and create conversations for us to learn from and about. This is a relaxed environment encouraging an open forum of communication between everyone versus a normal lecture style event. If you are inspired, why not get in the spirit of Halloween celebration by wearing your favorite costume! |

SPEAKER INFORMATION:
Commander Ed Trapp has been a police officer since 1983, joining the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police in 1993. He has been a Sergeant in uniform patrol and Witness Protection. |

As Lieutenant, he served as a planner and lead supervisor for various protests held in the city since 2005, Super Bowl Celebrations and Parades, the Stanley Cup Celebration in 2009 and 2016.He served as the Civil Disturbance planner and Assistant Operations Commander for the G-20 Summit held in Pittsburgh in 2009. After the Summit he was charged with creating and overseeing the Litigation Support Unit which assisted the Law Dept. with the Bureau’s defense for G-20 related lawsuits. He has overseen the Intelligence Unit including Dignitary protection and he was the Project Manager for the Bureau’s Body Worn Camera project start-up. Since his promotion to Commander, he is in charge of the Special Deployment Division and Public Safety Planning, overseeing units such as Traffic, SWAT, EOD (bomb squad), River Rescue, Flood Response, School Crossing Guards and planning for major events, litigation support, oversight of all secondary employment. He is a nationally recognized expert on Body Worn Cameras doing work for the Bureau of Justice Assistance, a branch of the Department of Justice. He recently was appointed to a nationwide panel on endurance event security. |

Julie Ann is a communication specialist, collaboration strategist and change steward. She is the Founder of Learning Never Ends, a company whose purpose is to create a more positive culture, one person at a time.Julie Ann has a diverse educational background, which includes a BA in Psychology and an MBA in Accounting. She earned the designation of CPA and spent decades involved in the financial industry and the corporate world. As a Professional Speaker, she has worked with McDonald's USA, Howard Hanna Financial, Highmark and Bayer US. Her programs are known for her expertise, innovation, humor and engagement of her participants. Julie Ann is a Professional member of the National Speakers Association an accomplished author and hosts the Mere Mortals Unite & Businesses that Care podcasts. |

Sean P. Oates has been in the crowd management, event staffing and security industry for over 25 years. He has been involved in all aspects of the industry, including touring, venues (clubs, theatres, amphitheaters and stadiums), personal security and specialized events.In that time he has done over 3000 shows. |

This year will be Sean’s tenth Super Bowl, where he is in charge of the AFC representative, their hotel, press conferences and special events. Following the Steeler’s victory in Super Bowl 48, Sean was featured in an episode of “Full Contact” on TRU TV, chronicling his experience running concert security for the NFL’s Kick Off Concert at Point State Park, featuring Tim McGraw and the Black Eyed Peas. Sean has also participated in leading security for Wrestlemania’s and the NBA ALL-Star game. Sean is currently Branch Manager for Landmark Event Staffing Services, Inc. in Pittsburgh, Pa. He oversees clients such as Heinz Field, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the University of Pittsburgh, the Peterson Event Center, the Pittsburgh Marathon and Delta Foundation’s Pride Festival, among many others. Sean is active in many industry-related groups and conferences, including but not limited to the NFL’s annual security conference and NCS4, where he was a participant and author in the first Best Practices Guide for Marathons and road races following the Boston Marathon bombing. |

USE GATE 4 OF NOVA PLACE: For easiest access, enter parking garage GATE 4 on South Commons. Stay in the leftmost lanes when you enter and take the nearest elevator (look for the elevator that says CENTRAL2) up to the Plaza (P) Level of the concourse. Look for Alloy 26 on the right when you get off the elevator. After 4pm, parking is a flat rate of $5. |
There is an entrance to the concourse at the corner of South Commons and Federal Street, across from the Post Office. |
