What are you currently working on in your committee?

Our amazing committee is currently focusing on the Charity Auction & Dinner which will be April 7^th at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa. This year’s theme is ‘Spring Has Sprung’ and closes out the highly anticipated Ottawa Meet Week.

It’s one of our Signature events because not only does it bring together members, industry partners, colleagues and friends from across Canada but, most importantly, we raise awareness and funds for important non-government funded charities in the local region.

What are you committee’s top three goals for this year?

1 - Recovery. After a tough couple of years for everyone, we want to continue focusing on recovery for our industry. We want to help our members, friends and colleagues bounce back and adjust to this new normal.

2 - Providing safe events for us to reconnect with each other.

3 - Have a very successful auction portion of the evening so that we can raise funds for important local non-government funded charities who have also been hit really hard over the past few years. We are so thankful for the donated items received from individuals and organizations from previous years and implore them to do so again this year. What are the benefits of volunteering with your committee?

Our industry is full of people who are passionate about meetings and events. Joining this committee is a great way to:

• feel personally fulfilled and to give back to our industry and local community
• learn and gain more knowledge by working closely with industry colleagues
• create lasting friendships, mentorships and grow your network

Last words

I truly believe that our industry is one of the greatest and that’s largely because of the wonderful, like-minded people that we get to connect with. Through MPI Ottawa you have access to education, networking opportunities, business and relationship building. It has given more to me than I can ever repay!
