Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)

The foremost certification of the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry, the CMP program recognizes individuals who have achieved the industry’s highest standard of professionalism. Established in 1985, the CMP credential increases the proficiency of meeting professionals by: 

• Identifying a body of knowledge;
• Establishing a level of knowledge and performance necessary for certification;
• Stimulating the advancement of the art and science of meeting management;
• Increasing the value of practitioners to their employers;
• Recognizing and raising industry standards, practices and ethics;
• Maximizing the value received from the products and services provided by Certified Meeting Professionals.

Through the CMP program, individuals who are employed in meeting management pursue continuing education, increase their industry involvement, and gain industry-wide recognition. The requirements for certification are based on professional experience and a written examination. Currently, over 13,000 individuals in 35 countries and territories have earned the CMP designation. 

The CMP Exam is administered by the Events Industry Council, an organization representing 34 hospitality industry associations. For more information on CMP requirements, application process, and information on and fees, visit the EIC website. 

MPINCC helps members prepare for the exam via the CMP University program. The program is held on ten select Saturdays January – May each program year. Each session covers 1-2 Domains from the EIC. For more information on CMP University and the CMP exam process, please contact info@mpincc.org. 

Certificate in Meeting Management (CMM)

Earning your Certificate in Meeting Management (CMM) shows the world that you are a strategic thinker ready to assume a leadership role in this industry. This intensive, three-phased executive education program packs the highlights of a world-class graduate degree program into four days, followed by eight hours of advanced-level online coursework and a final project focused on solving a real-world,  work-based problem.

Taught by Indiana University faculty, the entire program takes 15 weeks to complete. Upon successful completion of the coursework, attendees earn 48 clock hours and 4.8 CEUs. They will also have the opportunity to earn three graduate credit hours, which can be applied to the Indiana University Kelley School’s Executive Degree Program (EDP) Business Management Certificate.
