Kicking off the series: a conversation with Holly Zieinski from District Six SF
Q. Please provide background information on the type of business you own, the size of your business, and date you started your company.
A. District Six is a premium, customizable event space located in the heart of San Francisco, sharing a variety of experiences with the community. We are home to weekly themed events, rotating food trucks, small goods vendors, arts, entertainment and more.
Founded in 2021, Anthony Presents utilized his extensive background in event planning to transform this 20,000 square foot, open-air creative space for friends and family to gather again safely. With over 500 events produced, District Six has grown into a space for everyone.
Q. Share the challenges you face as a minority business owner.
A. I think the challenges we face as a minority owned business are forming big business partnerships and funding. As a small business, it’s a challenge to work with bigger companies, as they are tough to reach and have access to. We want to host more events, hire more minorities, and do a ton of remodeling to the space, but a lack of funding is challenging for us.
Q. Describe the ways our chapter members can support your business.
A. I believe the chapter can help us thru education. We want to learn from the members as they have more experience and most likely can guide us on how to reach our goals.
Word of mouth is a major key to our success. We have been referred so many times and it’s a great statement for the quality of work we do. We hope MPINCC members can help guide us and help us scale our business so we can thrive as a industry leader and minority business owner.
