MPI EMEC in Luxembourg, an array of languages, cuisines, customs

By Blair Potter | Jan 12, 2024

MPI’s European Meetings & Events Conference (EMEC) brings the global meeting industry together to advance new ideas and build lasting partnerships.

Following a pandemic delay, EMEC made its triumphant return in 2023 to Brighton, a lively and inclusive seaside English city that is also home to one of MPI’s most stalwart partners: the IMEX Group.

In March, we’re back—this time in Luxembourg, where historic sites, natural beauty and culinary delights abound in a compact, easily traversed landscape (alongside an exciting EMEC conference programme, of course)

But don’t take our word for why you should visit. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be chatting with several of MPI’s partners and hosts who are making EMEC 2024 possible and can tell you exactly why a visit to Luxembourg (and EMEC) is essential.

Today, we speak with Alina Mihai, groups and receptions coordinator for Parc-Hotel Alvisse, one of MPI’s EMEC hotel partners, about Luxembourg’s strengths as a meeting destination, what might surprise those visiting Luxembourg for the first time and why she’s excited about hosting EMEC delegates.

“Luxembourg is one of the three capitals of the European Union and boasts some of the union’s key institutions, including the European Court of Justice and the European Investment Bank,” she says. “On top of that, it houses the headquarters of a number of global giants, including ArcelorMittal, RTL Group and Amazon.”

Luxembourg is also notable due to its mix of cultures, Mihai says.

“Nestled in between the much larger countries of Belgium, France and Germany, Luxembourg’s unique positioning means you’ll be treated to an array of different languages, cuisines, customs and other nuances,” she says. “The country already has three official languages—French, German and the national language of Luxembourgish—however, you’ll find that most locals can also speak fluent English.”

Because the Parc-Hotel Alvisse hosts all categories of business meetings, it’s a great fit for the EMEC audience, according to Mihai.

“We are a multilingual team that is happy to assist you in organizing the best events and meeting people from around the world,” she says. “Parc Hotel Alvisse awaits you with spacious, recently renovated premises only a five-minute drive from Luxembourg’s city centre, the airport and the Kirchberg Plateau—home to European institutions. We offer 325 very modern rooms and studios with free Wi-Fi; 14 reception rooms for up to 1,500 people for meetings, conferences and private events; an air-conditioned restaurant and lounge bar; a spa, wellness and beauty center (sauna, hammam, fitness); two tennis courts; two bowling alleys; table tennis; a mountain biking, hiking and jogging trail; and 480 parking spaces for cars and buses.”
