“My workload has not slowed at all, and so finding the time in the day to devote to and focus on work while also maintaining a schedule and some normalcy for our family is a struggle.”
“As a mom of a 3-year-old and an 8-year-old, the work-life balance has been—by far—the most challenging aspect of the COVID-19 situation for me. My workload has not slowed at all, and so finding the time in the day to devote to and focus on work while also maintaining a schedule and some normalcy for our family is a struggle on the best days. From basketballs flying behind my head during Zoom meetings to probably allowing way more screen time than I really want to, it’s about acknowledging that perfection is not the goal and knowing that doing the best I can in that moment is all I can—or should—expect from myself. I’ve found that the early morning hours, before the rest of the house gets up, are my most productive, so I have been concentrating that time on the things that need more focus and attention.” Molly Marsh |
“I was pretty lucky when it came to the work and school at home situation. My husband and I both already worked out of the house—of course, I was usually out at sales appointments or networking events. My children attend a University Curriculum school, which means they homeschool two days a week, so rolling into full-time homeschooling after spring break was not a huge adjustment. We try to break up the monotony of being glued to a computer all day with a daily walk with our doggies.” Paige Mejia |
“There is not much work in my life these weeks. All projects I was involved with are cancelled. It will not be until September that I am able to send out an invoice, the way things look right now. I am involved in some voluntary projects for MPI Netherlands and the European Global Meetings Industry Day event. Besides that, I am supporting some initiatives in the cultural sector, all on a voluntary base as well. Most of my days, though, I am a full-time dad and home teacher to my 7-year-old and 1-year-old. A Zoom call for projects every now and then is integrated easily in the new daily routine, and I do some emailing at night once they’re in bed.” Sven Boelhouwer |
