EMEC Offers Pre-Conference Clock Hours for CMP Certification

By Mikayla Milburn | Feb 7, 2020

During EMEC, there will be multiple opportunities to obtain two certificates and catch a few clock hours towards CMP certification, all verified by the Events Industry Council (EIC).

The EIC is the primary provider of meeting professional credentials. CMP certification is a badge of excellence, and, according to the EIC website, qualification requires “personal experience, education and a rigorous exam.” While MPI can’t take the CMP exam for you, EMEC has you covered on education.

Miranda Van Bruck, program director for MPI and education coordinator for EMEC, says that conference education is focused on the four crucial areas of education: leadership, design thinking, complex problem solving and storytelling for business.

“All sessions have been carefully curated and handpicked, so there is a very rich educational offering that are in line with the MPI mission: to connect the global meeting and event community to learn, innovate, collaborate and advocate,” she says.

The day before the conference, and during the European Chapters Leaders Forum, EMEC will feature the Women in Leadership: Executive Leader Skills, hosted by Ingrid Rip. This session will earn participants the Women in Leadership Skills Certificate and four clock hours toward CMP certification. Content for the session focuses on learning about key roles that women play in the meeting industry and how to overcome career obstacles, help assess personal strengths and weaknesses and how to formulate your own leadership style.

Sunday’s agenda will also offer the Meeting and Event Strategist Certificate Program, hosted by Babs Nijdam that will earn participants the Meetings and Events Strategist Certificate and six clock hours. This session will focus on reevaluating how event professionals fit in an industry that is becoming increasingly dependent upon technology.

So for those of you obtaining the prestigious CMP certification, don’t neglect the two certificate sessions before the conference officially begins. And while you’re busy learning, don’t forget to sign up for the many exciting learning journeys available at EMEC.
