Demographics Report (July 2024)

The bi-annual Chapter Demographic Report (and the Global Demographic Report) are now available via the CLRP under the Chapter Metrics area. The Chapter Demographic Report provides a snapshot of your chapter’s membership profile and useful information for developing sponsorship prospectus. A quick reminder that these reports are only updated twice a year, in January and July.

August 1 Compliance Reminder

FY2025 board slates are due to MPI no later than August 1, 2024. Please ONLY use the submission template available via the CLRP > Compliance > August 1 Compliance > Chapter Slate for Internal Distribution (MSExcel file) to send your FY2025 slates so incoming and returning board members can be invited to Chapter Leadership Summit, taking place on September 12.

What Happens if the Board Slate is Contested?

While it doesn’t happen often below is the process that needs to be followed should a member contest the chapter’s ballot:

  1. The member must submit a letter to the Governance and Nominating Committee Chair by the date provided.
  2. The member contesting the slate must also get the signatures of 10% of the members during this period of time.
  3. The member contesting must submit the Candidate Interest Form (aka Board Application) to nominate themselves or another member in good standing of the chapter.

If the member completes the three steps above, the contested position goes back to the membership to vote on the two or more candidates running for the same position.  In order to be a valid vote, 20% of the chapter's membership must have voted.  The vote is invalid if less than 20% of the chapter’s membership votes.

The Countdown has begun!

40 FOR 40 ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGN (August 5,6, and 7)

Since 1984, over 25,000 individuals have benefitted from financial donations large and small that support our global professional community, chapters, and individuals like you!  Cumulatively, it is OVER $14.4 million in support!

This August 5, 6, and 7, we are asking individual MPI members to join our celebration by simply donating 40 of whatever currency you prefer. Euros, Dollars, Pounds, etc. 40 For 40 years.

While we could highlight 40 reasons this is a good idea, we really offer you over 25,000 reasons why doing the right thing should be celebrated.

While you’re at it, encourage your chapter members, your business, your professional community to support with a simple nominal amount.

Imagine if only 1,000 MPI members would give. Now do it yourself.

Over three days, we’ll share testimonials of those who benefitted and those who continue to give back… to support your professional community.

Please join us and make 40 For 40 a simple statement of the Power Of Good!

HOW YOU CAN HELP: A 40 for 40 tool kit can be found on the CLRP > Chapter Toolkits > Monthly Toolkits.

Please also watch for updates to the Chapter Pledge program coming soon.

Finally, this is the time of year where the MPI Foundation Global Board of Trustees and MPIF Councils look to add passionate individuals to our boards. Please visit www.mpi.org to learn more about how you can help volunteer at an international level!

Special Committees

Anti-Human Trafficking Committee forms partnerships for success

For the second year in a row, MPI Global’s Anti-Human Trafficking Committee joined forces with MPI’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee on an important conversation focusing on the impact of human trafficking in the LGBTQ+ community.  This virtual call took place on Thursday, June 6, and was open to all MPI members as part of the RealTalk series.  Call participants were honored to hear from Steven Procopio, ACSW, LICSW, with key insights on this subject, garnered from many years of counseling boys and men with a history of trauma and sexual abuse.

Additionally, the Anti-Human Trafficking committee was honored to host a breakout session at WEC in Louisville.  The Anti-Human Trafficking session at WEC was led by experts in the field with speakers from the Dept. of Social Work and People Against Trafficking Humans (PATH) Coalition. The breakout provided a comprehensive overview of different types of the human trafficking, clarifying misconceptions and offering deeper insights into recognizing signs when working with vendors. Attendees were equipped with tools and resources to prepare a human trafficking policy for their organizations. Their resounding message placed emphasis on the importance of education and awareness to create positive change with action.
