New Member Spotlight - Katie Mack

Please welcome Katie Mack to MPI St. Louis. Katie is the Front Desk Supervisor at the Sheraton Westport Plaza and is excited to join the St. Louis Chapter!

Katie is a St. Louis native and went to Kirkwood High School. Katie received her degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Administration from Missouri State University in May. She took the Intro to Hospitality Course and fell in love with the opportunities that the variety of career paths in this industry had to offer. From the start in the Hospitality and Restaurant Administration Department, she says that all of the University staff members and students were supportive and wanted everyone to succeed. This support always made Katie want to do her very best whether in the classroom or out in the field during her jobs and internships.

When asked what she enjoys most about her position, Katie shared that "my favorite part about being a Front Desk Supervisor is getting to interact with all of the guests that come through the hotel doors. It is rewarding when guests say how much they enjoyed their time, but also great when even the smallest act of mine can help make a guest stay".

Katie enjoys spending her spare time watching the Food Network and HGTV shows. She loves going to OrangeTheory Fitness to stay active! Katie also loves travelling to fun places, like Hawaii, New York and Washington D.C. This year, she hopes to visit her friend who will be studying abroad in China.
 
Katie has already become an active member since she joined the chapter in September! She has recently joined the Education Committee and handles the role of social media and communications. Katie feels the most beneficial part of being involved with MPI St. Louis is meeting people all throughout the Saint Louis area that have the same passions as she does. Because she is a new MPI member and new to the hospitality industry, she feels that it is important to learn from those in the industry. She looks forward to passing this knowledge on as she continues to progress in her career. 

When asked what she is hoping to achieve from MPI, Katie replied, “In college, I had several professors tell me to join a professional organization, and I decided to join MPI. What I am hoping to get out of MPI is the opportunity to network with people I would not have met otherwise, and also as an opportunity to grow in my personal and professional life”.
