New Member Spotlight - Erica King

This month the spotlight is on Erica King. Erica is the Manager of Talent Development and Diversity & Inclusion for the Regional Business Council. She has been in her current role for a year and a half producing corporate meetings, trainings, ceremonies and receptions for students, young professionals, business and civic leaders...keeping them interested in the gateway city!

The mission of the Regional Business Council is to unite and engage members to act on high-impact business, civic and philanthropic affairs for the betterment of the St. Louis region. They engage and partner with a number of organizations to provide programming, events and meetings for a myriad of audiences. Erica's goal is to make St. Louis a place for young talent to live and work by offering them the best of St. Louis.

She says the best part of her job is engaging with young professionals and students at the events she plans and hosts all year. Erica says, "It's a gift to meet so many talented individuals with great aspirations and individuals who are making an impact in the region."

Erica has been in the industry for seven years. After college, she interned at the Design Center of the Merchandise Mart; coordinating tradeshows, grand openings, cocktail receptions and workshops for multiple divisions in high end residential furniture, luxury, casual home furniture, gifts and accessories. From there, she became the Catering and Events Sales Manager for Rome's Joy Catering in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, where she planned weddings, family and class reunions as well as birthday parties.

Erica joined MPI last month and wants to get involved and meet dynamic industry professionals in St. Louis. Her ultimate, future role with MPI will be to join the EduCon Committee. Erica wants to connect with other industry professionals and is working towards her CMP. She is looking forward to learning about St. Louis' hidden gems within the venues and vendors.

Erica is a native St. Louisan and in her spare time she enjoys writing songs and traveling. Her binge-watching consists of Blackish and This Is Us.
