Kathy Reak,Senior Director of Convention Sales ~ Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau

 

Kathy Reak is the Senior Director of Convention Sales at the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau and has been with the organization for over 20 years. Currently, she is the President of Destination Colorado and serving as the past president of the Southern Colorado Chapter of HSMAI. In 2009, she was named into the Colorado Meeting & Events Hall of Fame as Supplier of the Year, named Supplier of the Year for MPI Rocky Mountain Chapter in 2012. In 2013, she was recognized with the MIC Leadership Award, in 2014, received the Peak Performer Individual of the Year for Destination Colorado and in 2016 received the Industry Legacy Award in honor of Sandy Gerety by the Rocky Mountain MPI Chapter. She spends her spare time with her husband and her two Shih Tzu’s and their newly acquired activity of RVing.

Cahal Mowery,Director of Convention Sales ~ Visit Denver

 

Cahal Mowery attended the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management at the University of Houston (Go Coogs & Case Keenum!) to pursue his passion of the hospitality industry on a full scholarship. Upon a final semester abroad and graduation, Cahal joined Visit Houston as a National Account Executive of the Convention Sales Team. After fulfilling multiple sales markets over the course of 6 years with Visit Houston, Cahal joined the market’s newest luxury hotel, the JW Marriott Houston Downtown, as the Director of Sales & Catering. Today, Cahal blends his enthusiasm for the industry, DMO and hotel sales leadership experience at Visit Denver, where he serves as the Director of Convention Sales, leading the 9-member EMM and Mid-Market sales team (<950 peak). Through his experience, Cahal has earned his Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation, has served as President for the Meeting Professionals International-Houston Area Chapter (MPI-HAC), has been named a recipient of Connects 40 Under 40 2014 class as well as PCMA’s 20 in their Twenties 2018 class, and earned his MBA from the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. When not in the office, Cahal enjoys exploring Denver with his wife (Mallory Mowery – taking his last name was true love!), cooking, wine (he is a Certified Sommelier), staying active in the outdoors, and traveling.

Marci Kurronen,Sales Representative ~ Visit Grand Junction

 

Marci is a Colorado native and has been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years. The majority of her experience is with Destination Marketing Organizations. She began her career in Vail working for local area hotels before moving back to Denver and becoming the Front Range representative for the Vail CVB for 12 years before joining the Grand Junction VCB. Over the years, she has been active in many industry associations including MPI, CSAE, SGMP, CMCA, PCMA and Destination Colorado. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, golfing, snowshoeing, reading and going to the movies.

Justin Clark,Director of Sales and Services ~ Visit Aurora

 

Justin Clark joined Visit Aurora in 2013. He is the Director of Sales for Visit Aurora, where he directs the efforts of Aurora’s sales team, and personally handles Aurora’s sports market. He has served on a number of boards including the Colfax Marathon, Leadership Aurora, and others. He is currently a member of the board of directors for Destination Colorado and Downtown Aurora Visual Arts. Prior to joining Visit Aurora, Justin worked as the Special Events Superintendent for the City of Aurora, and managed City signature events and volunteer programs for 6 years. He is a Colorado native, longtime resident of Aurora, and a graduate of the University of Colorado. When not marketing Aurora as a premier destination for conventions, meetings, and sports tournaments, he enjoys discovering new restaurants, hiking in the Colorado mountains, and spending time with friends and family.

Susan Proffitt~ Sr. National Sales Manager ~ Visit Vail Valley

 

In her role with the Visit Vail Valley, Susan is a leader in the Colorado and Canadian group markets assisting meeting and event planners create memorable and successful group events in the beautiful Vail Valley. She has more than 25 years of Hospitality and Sales experience and enduring customer relationships built on trust and mutual respect. Her experience stems from some of Colorado’s finest resorts and hotels; including Vail Resorts and the Sebastian-Vail. She’s a member of MPI, CSAE & RCMP and held the CMP credential since 2010.

A Denver native and resident, Susan relishes the best of both worlds of city-life and the mountain recreation and enjoys being an active part of both the Denver & Vail Valley communities. Interests include traveling, hiking, concerts, community involvement, camping and spending time with family and friends which include her canine room-mates: Jasper and Beau.

Emcee ~ Patty Silverstein, President & Chief Economist ~ Development Research Partners

 

Patricia Silverstein is the president and chief economist of Development Research Partners, a Jefferson County, Colorado-based real estate analysis and economic development research company founded in 1994. Ms. Silverstein’s expertise is in economic research and economic development, including industry cluster studies and strategic economic development planning. She has extensive experience in preparing economic impact and fiscal impact analysis for community development purposes. In addition, she serves as the consulting chief economist for the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp. and the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. In these roles, she compiles, interprets, and forecasts economic and demographic data for the Denver metropolitan area and performs in-depth research on issues and proposed developments impacting the region.

Ms. Silverstein received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Ms. Silverstein is active in a number of business and professional organizations, including member of the Governor’s Revenue Estimating Advisory Committee, the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER), the Economic Development Council of Colorado, and the Denver Association of Business Economists.
