Broad Street Ministry
To kick off the week, we sorted and distributed mail and packages to assist with their mail service program at Broad Street Ministry. BSM’s mail service is one of many social services they provide and is a secure place for people to receive their mail. More than 3,000 people call BSM’s address their own, enabling them to establish residency, get identification, search for employment, and receive benefits. There are other ways to volunteer at BSM. Cradles to Crayons
It was so fun to see so many lovely MPI PHL friends on Giving Tuesday night and for such a good cause! We sorted through and folded clothes. Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia serves between 3000 and 8000 children in poverty (parents income averages around 12k annually) per week. They have a staff of 15 people to do this so they rely heavily upon their volunteers to do this work. Morris Animal Refuge
Morris Animal Refuge is America’s first animal refuge. They are committed to adoption, education, and high-quality care with the goal of finding positive and humane outcomes for animals in need. We got to take the dogs out for the day! We had a ton of fun with Toffee and Storm. Take a pup out for a walk or possibly for a day at https://www.morrisanimalrefuge.org/volunteering
Toys for Tots
On our last day of our Week of Giving, volunteers met at the Philadelphia Toys for Tots warehouse and sorted and packed toys to be distributed to local children in need. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is, through the gift of a new toy, to help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to less fortunate children. In 2020, Philadelphia Toys for Tots distributed 31,081 toys and 28,221 children were supported.
