On February 19th, The Philadelphia Chapter of Meeting Professionals Internal (MPI PHL) convened the 19th Annual Education Institute. The meeting took place at the beautiful Normandy Farm Hotel and Conference Center located in Blue Bell, PA. The theme of the day was Never Stop Learning. The full day conference was the culmination of an eight-month undertaking by the thirteen committee members and chairs who prepared for the meeting with an attention to every detail. Over 175 attendees packed the venue, which was a former barn that was previously converted into a ballroom. The morning kicked off with a breakfast and a keynote presentation by Pandit Dasa, the self-described “Urban Monk.” Part of the presentation focused on "Creating Mindful and Positive Workplace Culture." The attendees were led through a 7 minute mediation session and a provision of useful take-a-ways. The day was full of additional educational topics, including morning and afternoon concurrent sessions on topics such as Diversity and Inclusion, Risk Management, and a lively panel discussion on Meetings on the Leading Edge to name just a few.
The Education sponsor of the day was Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Bureau, and Monty the Fox made a special appearance.
This year brought two inaugural segments to the day, the Community Service project that benefited Nemours /Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children and our Event App. Attendees prepared 120 craft bags for the children.
In closing, the day offered great networking, quality education, and professional development. Indeed, Cathy Briggs, CMP, HMCC, Sourcing Manager with Maritz travel, said that "MPI PHL Education Institute was an awesome informative educational day and well-received by attendees. Kudos to the planning team!"
