Why I Joined the Board

Hello From Your MPI PHL President!
Now that it’s nominations time, I wanted to give everyone my story of why I joined MPI PHL’s Board of Directors.

First, I was nominated by a MPI PHL member and I was so honored that this person knew I had what it takes to help the chapter.  I was already involved on a volunteer level and always thought how “cool” it would be to be on the board.  

So I said yes!  My interview process really made me realize how I wanted to make an impact on the chapter through membership and getting others involved. 
I was asked to be Director of Leadership Development & Volunteer Recruitment (a mouthful!).  I cherished the position as it gave me the opportunity to touch almost all our members and really make our new members feel at home and realize their potential with our chapter.

Continuing on, I was VP of Finance which WOW you really learn how a business is run!  The skills I learned with Finance made me truly understand my own company’s business plans, budgets and financial spreadsheets to improve my “jobby” job.

Now that I am President, I now know how to look at the bigger picture of our chapter and work with all the board members, committee chairs and volunteers to ensure we are fulfilling our members needs and desires.
