MPI Minute with Brandi Fox Kunz at the National Constitution Center

In a new series for MPI to Eye Blog, we will take a minute to speak with members and supporters of the MPI PHL Chapter.  

This week we talk to: Brandi Fox Kunz,  Event Sales Manager at the National Constitution Center.

Q: What was your first job in the hospitality industry?  
Brandi: In my Junior year of college, at the Sheraton Parsippany Hotel, I worked behind the front desk answering phones.  We had a hotel near campus that many hospitality students worked at, but I had plans to move to NYC after graduation and wanted to be with a company I could transfer within. In 2004, I was able to smoothly transfer to the W Hotel in Union Square with one easy interview that my HR director coordinated for me. 

Q: What is unique about your venue and why is it ideal for groups or events?  
Brandi:  The Grand Hall Overlook, our premier space, has a unique shape allowing us to adequately accommodate smaller events of 75-100 guests up to 600 (2,800 for a full museum buy-out). I often find myself describing to clients with smaller guest counts that their experience in this space is drastically different from hosting 100 guests in a ballroom that can accommodate 700.
The best features of the Center are the 60-foot-high ceilings and sweeping windows, the Grand Hall Overlook offers a breathtaking, birds-eye view of Independence Hall. 

Q: How do you partner with your clients? 
Brandi: Many of our clients want to offer an entertainment component during their event, and often times our Core Exhibition, Freedom Rising, will check that box.  Freedom Rising is an engaging 17-minute theatrical experience that brings the Constitution to life through 360-degree projection with a dynamic live actor.

Q: What has been your favorite meeting/event?
Brandi: Hands down the best event I ever worked on, January 2016 we had an anniversary gala for 1,100 guests and the client hired Diana Ross to perform.  She was absolutely brilliant!
