How did you get your start in the industry?
I got started in the event industry through my background in photography. With over 25 years of experience in photography, I had already been involved in the industry in some capacity. While working in advertising, I was frequently involved in events where I provided photographic services. This gave me some insight into the world of event planning and sparked my interest in the field. After starting a family, I decided to take a break from full-time work to focus on my children. However, as my children grew older and I had more time to myself, I found myself drawn back to event planning. I've always been drawn to the energy and excitement of events, and I love the challenge of bringing together all the different elements to create a seamless and memorable experience for guests. My background in photography has given me a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of how to capture the essence of an event, which I believe has been a valuable asset in my work as an event planner. Overall, my journey into the event industry has been shaped by my love of photography, and my passion for creating memorable experiences for people.

How many years have you been in the industry?
I have been working in the event industry full-time for the past 11 years.

What is your favorite thing about our industry?
What I love most about the event industry is the entire process of event planning, from brainstorming and conceptualizing to execution. I thrive on the thrill of working alongside other event professionals and my clients to bring their visions to life. There's nothing like the rush of seeing it all come together and the doors open to reveal an unforgettable experience for the guests. It's a great balance of creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, and it keeps me energized and motivated every day. Bringing people together and creating lasting memories is my ultimate goal, and the event industry allows me to do just that!

What is the best career advice you've received?
One of the best pieces of career advice that I've received is to get involved and stay open to new ideas. Being part of organizations and surrounding myself with like-minded people. Be open and willing to learn so I can gain valuable insights, connect with others and find new opportunities to take my career to the next level hopefully along the way I may meet some fantastic friends and find a mentor.

What is the most memorable event you have planned or client experience you have had?
One of the most significant and personally fulfilling experiences I have had in the event industry was planning my sons' Bar Mitzvahs. Being able to bring our vision to life, from the decorations to the entertainment and everything in between, was a deeply rewarding experience. It's not often that we get to combine our personal and professional interests, and these events allowed me to do just that.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced in your career and how did you overcome it?
Overcoming my fear of public speaking is one of the greatest challenges I encounter in my career, as I am more comfortable working behind the scenes than being in the spotlight. Despite this, I have had numerous opportunities to speak in front of groups of people due to my involvement in various organizations. While it has been a daunting task, I refuse to let my fear hold me back from achieving my goals.

If you were not in this industry, what would you be doing right now?
If I couldn't work in the event industry anymore, I'd focus on my love for photography. During the pandemic, I had a lot of free time to study and earned my FAA Drone license, which took my photography game to the next level. I love exploring new ways to get the perfect shot, and my drone has opened up a whole new world of possibilities. Capturing stunning aerial shots has become an obsession of mine.
