About the Course
In this 4-hour course, you'll examine the key roles women play in the hospitality and meeting industries and how to overcome career obstacles to executive level positions. This instructor led course will guide you in creating a personal action plan to help you move into leadership roles within the meeting planning industry and more.

Speaker:
Jessie States, MPI Academy Instructor
Jessie oversees learning design and delivery for the MPI Academy across delivery channels—from live events and webinars to online learning and chapter programs. She acts as an educational advocate for MPI, designing, creating and sourcing education for MPI and its partners and chapters. She also manages and executes MPI’s overall chapter education strategy and acts as the educational and MPI Academy liaison for MPI partner associations and companies. She also determines the direction for research initiatives that fuel education and resource creation and help MPI make key business decisions.
Jessie received the 2018 Pacesetter Award from the Events Industry Council, an honor that recognizes emerging leaders and industry supporters who exhibit individual excellence based on innovation, impact, vision, leadership, influence, collaboration, courage, perseverance and other achievements. In 2017, she earned a place on the list of 25 Most Influential People in Meetings and Events (Successful Meetings magazine) and the title Trendsetter (Meetings Today magazine).
Jessie has been a part of the meeting and event community since 2006, when she joined MPI as a storyteller for The Meeting Professional magazine. She has written hundreds of articles and blogs on meetings and events and served as primary editor for MPI’s research initiatives on strategic meetings management, meeting design, corporate social responsibility, business value of meetings and virtual and hybrid events. She earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of North Texas in 2001, and she has won several honors for her writing from the Texas Press Association, the Society of Business Publication Editors and APEX.
