As a member of MPI Kansas City it benefits you to be involved! Whether your specialty is fundraising or record keeping, there is a committee that fits your niche. The committees listed below offer great opportunities to learn more about MPI Kansas City, network with other members, and work toward committee goals. Finance

The Sponsorship Committee is charged with seeking partnerships with annual sponsors, host venues and other in-kind donations to financially support and enhance our programs and events. This team also cultivates relationships with current and potential sponsors and ensures all benefits are received.

 

Potential Projects

  • Identifying potential annual and host venues sponsors for the calendar year.

  • Build out a pipeline for future sponsors.

 

Committee Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Attend the Annual Committee Kickoff Meeting to learn more about committee membership and meet with board leaders to help set yearly goals. This includes brainstorming target host venues, sponsors, and other partnerships to fulfill overall goals, and identify committee member strengths and resources to assign tasks to achieve goals. 

  • Some responsibilities will include regular committee meetings, as scheduled by board members. 

  • Identify new potential sponsors for host venues and annual sponsors.

  • Ensuring sponsors have received all benefits, as directed by board member

  • Be an advocate of MPIKC in the community to promote our events and recruit new members.

 

Reports to: VP of Finance

Special Events

The Special Events Committee is charged with design and execution of social and networking events to increase member value and generate chapter revenue. This includes Annual Presidential Gala, trivia and monthly meetups. 

Potential Projects

  • Presidential Gala

  • Other Social Events

 Committee Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Attend the Annual Committee Kickoff Meeting, learn more about committee membership and meet with area leaders to help set yearly goals. This includes brainstorming venues for special events and partnerships, and identifying committee member strengths and resources to assign tasks to achieve goals. 

  • Some responsibilities will include regular committee meetings, as scheduled by board members. 

  • Manage monthly meetups with assigned board member

  • Seek out venues and sponsors to host special events.

  • Solicit donations for silent auction items and special event prizes.

  • Be an advocate of MPIKC in the community to promote our events and recruit new members.

 

Reports to: Director of Special Events

Education

The Education Committee is responsible for the design and execution of monthly education programs and annual conference. This team is charged with delivering program content that is appealing to both planners and suppliers. This team works closely with our chapter administrator on event logistics for online registration and the communications team for overall event marketing.  

Potential Projects

  • Monthly Education Programs (~4 per calendar year)

  • Annual Conference (early Q4 2025)

Committee Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Attend the Annual Committee Kickoff Meeting to learn more about committee membership and meet with area leaders to help set yearly goals. This includes brainstorming for content, host venues, sponsors, and other partnerships to fulfill overall goals and identifying committee member strengths and resources to assign tasks to achieve goals. 

  • Some responsibilities will include regular committee meetings, as scheduled by board members. 

  • Onsite assistance at monthly education programs, including arriving early to help with check-in and greeting, staying after the event to ensure the host venue is left clean and reset, and engaging with attendees to help them connect at the event. 

  • Team with the Director of Annual Conference to set education objectives, develop a creative program theme and design, coordinate onsite event logistics and solicit sponsorships and exhibitors. This usually involves bi-weekly meetings in the six months leading up to the event.

  • Ensuring host venue sponsorship and other sponsorship deliverables are fulfilled, as directed by board members.

  • Be an advocate of MPIKC in the community to promote our events and recruit new members.

 

Reports to: Director of Education and Director of Annual Conference

Membership

The Membership Ambassadors are charged with total member care to include recruitment, retention and recognition. The committee works to encourage meeting industry professionals to become members of our chapter. Upon joining, the team welcomes and orients new members to ensure engagement at the chapter and global network. This team is also responsible to plan and execute bi-annual membership appreciation events.

 

Potential Projects

  • Membership Ambassador Program

  • Bi-annual Member Appreciation Event

 Committee Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Attend the annual Committee Kickoff Meeting, learn more about committee membership and meet with area leaders to help set yearly goals. This includes brainstorming to fulfill overall goals and identifying committee member strengths and resources to assign tasks to achieve goals. 

  • Some responsibilities will include regular committee meetings, as scheduled by board members. 

  • Be a resource for new members during on-boarding process and encourage member retention through regular check-ins throughout the first year of membership.

  • Be a familiar face for new members attending MPIKC programs, imparting a warm welcome to our growing community.

  • Foster connections with current members and help members maximize their membership experience through committee involvement.

  • Be knowledgeable of the membership benefits of MPI Global and MPIKC.

  • Onsite assistance at the Bi-annual Member Appreciation Event, including arriving early to help with check-in, engaging with new attendees and non-members to help them connect at the event, and ensuring the venue is left clean and reset.

  • Be an advocate of MPIKC in the community to promote our events and recruit new members.


Reports to: VP of Membership and Director of Membership

Communications

The Communications Committee is charged with chapter marketing and member and/or industry news for the chapter.  This team generates public awareness of MPI Global and Chapter activities through social media channels, website and monthly newsletter.

Potential Projects

  • MPI KC Monthly Newsletter

  • Social Media Initiatives 

Committee Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Attend the Annual Committee Kickoff Meeting, learn more about committee membership and meet with area leaders to help set yearly goals. This includes brainstorming for content, social media needs and other communication strategies to fulfill overall goals, and identifying committee member strengths and resources to assign tasks to achieve goals. 

  • Some responsibilities will include regular committee meetings, as scheduled by board members. 

  • Brainstorm themes, content and contributors for the monthly newsletter.

  • Create social media content to share on all social media channels, including graphics for education events, social events and other programs.

  • Capture photos and write recaps of chapter’s programs events for social media and/or newsletters.

  • Assist with building the monthly newsletter, editing, proofing, etc.

  • Be an advocate of MPIKC in the community to promote our events and recruit new members.
