Other than improving your Zoom Meeting skills, what have you learned (or learned to excel in professionally) since COVID-19 began?

I’ve learned how crucial communication and planning is. The pandemic started when I was a sophomore in college, so that shifted almost all of my classwork, projects and client work online. I took what I learned with working with classmates and clients in college to my business and how I interact with clients both locally, statewide and nationally.

Who are you outside of work?

I am a big film buff. College introduced me to many foreign films that I love, mainly Italian, French and Korean films. My degree not only taught me about the classic and iconic films, but some more unique films and genres. Some of my favorite directors are Wes Anderson, Steven Soderbergh and Quentin Tarantino, and I love all types of films, but the more unique and weird the better!

Name a silver lining in your own work experience since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The transition to hybrid and remote work allowed me to keep an internship that valued me and my work for almost one and half years after my first summer while I figured out what I wanted to do after college. They were incredibly encouraging and supportive as I started and grew my business, and gave me the runway I needed to get to a point where I could transition to being a full-time business owner and entrepreneur.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment to date?

I was able to shoot a video for AT&T in Chicago, and was also credited for cinematography on a mini-documentary made by the American Theatre Wing, who presents the annual Tony Awards. I was working under a larger production company, and these two productions not only allowed me to gain technical experience, they also allowed me to collaborate and meet new people in my industry, which was very exciting.

What are some of your favorite things about being an MPI member?

I learned very quickly that the best way to grow my business was networking, so any opportunity I can to meet and engage with new people is very exciting. While I’m still new to MPI, the networking opportunities have been great and
the leadership has been very welcoming and supportive.

When do you plan to go on your next vacation and where do you want to go?

I would love to get back to Los Angeles and explore the city more. Future trips I would love to go on would be New York City, Miami, Paris and Marseilles. I would also love to go back to Toronto.

What is the greatest place you have ever visited?

I have to say two. Los Angeles has the best weather and best people out of anywhere I have visited. I love the big city, so Toronto is my favorite place for city life and food.

Something people don’t know about you:

I have never seen Titanic and many other films that I probably should have as a fan of films.
