How has earning the CMP designation impacted or benefited your career?
Over the course of my career, I have gotten opportunities for raises, promotions and new positions due to my designations. I believe it shows I am dedicated to my field and willing to continue to learn and grow.

What did you want to be when you grew up? 
A doctor or a DJ.

How did you hear about the CMP designation and what drew you to obtain the certification?
I went to IUPUI and was very involved in both PCMA and MPI as a student. I learned about it from my professors and membership in MPI. I am always trying to level up my skills. I knew early on that studying for and taking the exam would help me to do that.

How did you get into the meeting industry?
I took a special events class as an elective in college and Amanda Cecil practically recruited me into the program from that class!

What advice would you give to someone considering the CMP or preparing for the exam?
First that in our industry a CMP is like a masters in some fields. It is probably the most widely recognized meeting/event designation and will support your growth so take it seriously. Second, find a study group and prepare for the exam!
