Be a Leader: Chair a Committee

CSR Committee

Are you looking to give back to your local community, take part in philanthropic causes, and provide positive social value? Then come join the CSR Committee. We coordinate monthly volunteer activities to provide our members the opportunity to contribute to making a difference in our community and connect with our members.


D & I Committee

It is crucial that the makeup of our chapter is reflected in the work that we do, and the support that we offer through a unified mission. As a member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, you will champion developing diverse educational content, hosting forums that tackle pertinent issues, while creating pathways of inclusion in which everyone can thrive.


Education Committee

We create and implement top-notch educational programs for our members. Through strong partnerships and our leveraged NYC presence, we provide our members across all industries with career and personal development experiences.


Finance Committee

Looking to broaden your reach and gain a deeper understanding of our industry? We work to create and discover opportunities that support the chapter's mission and goals. If you are a planner interested in working hard today to ensure our success tomorrow, then this committee is for you!


Leadership Development Committee

You've become a member of MPIGNY, now what? Our committee helps to identify the strengths and interests of our members and connect them with committee, volunteer, and board opportunities. Help your peers take their membership to the next level by helping them to be engaged. As the year comes to a close, help to recognize our outstanding members and leaders by planning and managing the area’s premier recognition event, The Genie Awards.


Marketing & Communications Committee

The MarComm Committee engages with our members through many platforms such as social media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter), our website (MPIGNY.org), and our magazine (@MPIGNY). Our goal as a committee is to be a leader in our industry by providing engaging content and to deliver the best experience to our members. If you are a content writer who would like to bring your skills and creativity to our communications, or if you love social media and want to bring your expertise of trends, insights and analytics to our channels, we would love to hear from you!

 Additional skillsets we are looking for are:

  • Cvent – Experience with Cvent Flex platform specifically creating registration web pages for events, pulling reports, etc.
  • Graphic Design – experience in design for social and written content. Canva design experience is a plus
  • Website Development Experience

Our Committee meets monthly and volunteers may be required to work 2-3 hours per month.

Our Mission: The Membership Committee is entrusted with the task of orchestrating initiatives that facilitate the onboarding of new members, engaging with industry peers to bolster recruitment efforts, and implementing strategies to enhance membership retention. Our goal is to ensure that MPIGNY remains a dynamic and thriving community where members can connect, learn, and grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Membership Orientation: As part of our Membership Concierge team, committee members play a pivotal role in orienting new members, providing them with the necessary resources and support to navigate the MPIGNY ecosystem seamlessly.
  • Recruitment Initiatives: We are constantly brainstorming and executing innovative initiatives to attract new members from the industry, tapping into diverse networks and channels to expand our reach and influence.
  • Retention Strategies: Recognizing the importance of nurturing existing relationships, we develop and implement strategies to foster member loyalty and satisfaction, ensuring that every member feels valued and engaged.
  • Engagement Opportunities: As a member of the Membership Committee, you have the flexibility to participate virtually, in person, or both, depending on your preferences and availability. Our monthly meetings on Zoom serve as a platform for collaboration and brainstorming, where ideas are exchanged, and plans are hatched. Additionally, committee members can personally onboard new members, both virtually and in person, forging connections and imparting a warm welcome to our growing community.

Special Events Committee

The Special Events Committee helps connect our members and industry peers through our engaging events: Golf, Fundraising and Networking.

The Golf Outing is one of MPIGNY's signature events and raises money for a variety of chapter programs. The Auction and Mixology event combines comradery and competition as folks bid on auction items and weigh in on the mixology battle. Our Networking events provide fun opportunities to meet, connect and build a network of lasting relationships. In addition our networking team also coordinates several After Six Mix casual meet-ups throughout the year.

Committee members are encouraged to participate in one or more of the events of their choosing.  We are looking for people with strong communication skills, a get-it-done attitude and team spirit. Responsibilities include concept creation, venue selection, event planning, solicitation of sponsorships including prizes, entertainment and décor services; and on-site presence at each event for a variety of duties. Committee meetings are virtual and held monthly.
