Anti-Human Trafficking

Ryan Heise
Friday, August 23, 2024, 9:15 - 9:45 AM

Human trafficking is a multibillion-dollar criminal industry that denies freedom to 24.9 million people around the world. Join us as we learn the indicators of human trafficking, dispel myths and misconceptions, and explore the role meeting professionals and our organizations can play in preventing and addressing human trafficking. Ryan Heise, management and program analyst at the Department of Homeland Security Center for Countering Human Trafficking (CCHT), will also provide insight into the Department of Homeland Security’s work in the fight against human trafficking.

Following the presentation Malinda Harrell, CMP Fellow, CASE, director of sales for the Greater Raleigh CVB and member of MPI’s Anti-Human Trafficking Committee, will moderate a Q&A with Ryan Heise, Shelbia Wiley and Christina Simmons. Shelbia and Christina are the executive director and community coordinator, respectively, at Engaging Minds Services, Inc., a Myrtle Beach-based non-profit organization providing services to victims of human trafficking and abuse.

To help support those impacted by human trafficking in the Myrtle Beach area, MPI Carolinas will be collecting items for Engaging Minds Services’ transitional housing for survivors of human trafficking and abuse. Items needed include toiletries, non-perishable food, feminine products, new clothing, and children’s books. If you’d like to contribute, please bring your donation to the registration table at the meeting.

JOLT! Get Zapped Into Intentionality To Rediscover & Believe In Your Inner Greatness

Larry Long Jr
Friday, August 23, 2024, 10:45 AM - 12:00 PM

In navigating the seemingly never-ending change, chaos and turbulence, finding your internal motivation can oftentimes be daunting! As Meeting Professionals, you serve the needs of so many others, putting them first…the question is, where do you (yes, YOU!) find YOUR motivation, and how do you keep a smile on your face through it all?

How can you leverage the concept of ‘the little things are the BIG THINGS’ in your daily life, both professionally and personally? This interactive workshop will provide you the opportunity to outline a game plan for prioritizing your motivation, and as a result, increasing your positive impact on others.

We will cover various aspects of motivation, including Mindset, Inspiration, and most importantly…TRANSFORMATION!

After attending, you will gain:

  • A clearer understanding of priorities for life’s most important areas
  • An action plan for staying connected (with self and others)
  • The ‘Journey-Line’ Framework for continuous learning and growth
