Thursday: Practical Communication Strategies for Navigating Networking Events and Trade Shows
For Planners and Exhibiting Suppliers Only

Does it drive you bonkers when they avoid eye contact or when they look like they’d rather be anywhere else in the world than here? Or how about when they seem to express genuine interest, but then you get ghosted? You invest valuable time, energy and resources attending networking events or trade shows.  You come with specific goals for your next event. Learn practical, tactical tips for making the most of interactions with buyers, sellers, colleagues, and customers in networking or exhibit hall environments. Meeting professionals will learn strategies for getting the information you need to effectively manage your event project plans and identify the best potential sites for your event. Suppliers will take away techniques for communicating your differentiators and asking the questions that help you identify whether they're a great match for you.

Friday: Practical Communication Strategies for Navigating Your Most Challenging Business Interactions

As busy professionals, you simply don’t have time for inefficient or ineffective interactions that linger on for weeks (or months!). This session starts with a candid panel discussion of planners and suppliers who road-tested the networking and trade show strategies at the Business XChange. The panel is followed by a lively, spirited program that dives deep into your biggest communication/interaction challenges at work, in the chapter, and beyond. Based on your very own input, we’ll tackle the interactions that cause you the most strife and equip you with practical techniques for handling them. Meeting professionals will learn communication tactics for developing a stellar program with input from all stakeholders and for keeping stakeholders relationships strong and supportive. Suppliers will learn strategies for building even better relationships with buyers with a few simple shifts in communication.

Speaker: Wendy Gates Corbett

Wendy Gates Corbett is an author, speaker, and escaped global training executive with 20+ years of experience designing and delivering invigorating presentations. But, it was an experience she had with a professional speaker that led her to leave the safe, but stale corporate world in 2013 to embark on her mission: to rid the world of bad presentations and bad presenters (by making them both better and more engaging). She presented a breakout session, ‘The Latest Dish on Experiential Events from 5 Experience Master Chefs’ at WEC 2019 in Toronto.

Wendy is a sought-after leader in the training industry. She speaks at local, national, and international conferences on the power of engagement, creating visual learning, presenting with presence, and the power of belonging. She recently served on the ATD Global Board of Directors. She also served as a Speaker Coach and the Slide Designer for TEDxRaleigh 2016: she worked alongside each speaker and his/her coach to hone their message and designed the final slides for every speaker.

Wendy’s company, Refresher Training, LLC works with professional athletes, speakers, and business leaders to help them speak with confidence, authority, and impact.
