Dallas, TX, USA – April 16, 2024 – Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the world’s largest industry association for event professionals, is thrilled to announce that Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter, Aloe Blacc, will be the special musical guest at this year’s World Education Congress (WEC) President’s Dinner. The event will take place at the Mellwood Art Center in Louisville, KY, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 6:15 to 9:30 p.m., during WEC Louisville.
This prestigious evening, made possible by founding sponsor Hilton and destination sponsor Louisville Tourism, will honor the outstanding contributions of MPI Volunteer Chapter Leaders and Volunteers, alongside industry legend Steve O’Malley, who will receive MPI’s Industry Leader Award. Steve is MPI’s only Chair to serve two terms, and he played an instrumental role in guiding MPI through the pandemic while shaping the future of MPI and the industry at large.
Recognition for the 2024 RISE Awards, celebrating some of the industry’s brightest individuals and most accomplished MPI Chapters and Volunteer Committees, and MPI Chair Award recipients will also take place. Tickets for this exclusive event are required and available for separate purchase.
Aloe Blacc, a celebrated artist known for global hits like “I Need A Dollar,” “The Man,” and the diamond-certified “Wake Me Up,” which boasts over 2 billion streams, has consistently used his platform for positive social transformation. Blacc’s music, which he describes as “A.I.M.”—affirmation, inspiration, and motivation—reflects his commitment not only to art but to impactful societal contributions.
“I’m thrilled to take part in this evening that honors the contributions of so many talented people who are truly responsible for transformative change,” said Aloe Blacc. “This promises to be a night of gratitude and good feels all around.”
The President’s Dinner at WEC Louisville will be an inspiring evening of recognition, networking, and exceptional music by Aloe Blacc, set against the backdrop of the artsy and elegant Mellwood Art Center.
Rachel Benedick, Chief Revenue Officer at MPI went on to comment, “Consider the incredible accomplishments our volunteer leaders make every day and those that Steve O’Malley has driven for decades. Now pair that with the remarkable musical talent, Aloe Blacc will bring to the evening. The amount of talent in this room will be spectacular!”
