Session Title:
Be a Connector – Making a difference and adding value at every turn!

Session Description:

“Connecting” is something that many MPI members do it every day, whether they are aware of it or not. They are constantly connecting with your stakeholders, members, coworkers, attendees, suppliers, family and the broader community. But are they making “Connections”? “Being a Connector” is about strengthening relationships and contributing to the success of fellow members. It has the other person’s best interest in mind. Being a connector is a simple yet powerful process that some do well and others will want to do even better. It is a process with three key pillars that have incredible benefits to all involved. Understand what “Being a Connector” is about and discover it’s 3 key pillars.

Learner Objectives:

1. Use connecting to better understand stakeholders, their interests, issues and priorities.
2. Creating value and strengthen relationships through connections you make.
3. Get closer to each other to find innovative solutions for today’s real time and ever changing event planning environments.
4. Through connecting, you will gain greater control, increased job satisfaction and enhance the meetings and events industry!

Jay Gubrud
Jay Gubrud is a catalyst for performance improvement. He has successfully worked with nearly two dozen MPI Chapters from Boston to California! He is a dynamic professional speaker, trainer, author and consultant who has been presenting across industries and audiences for over eighteen years. His programs challenge participants to eliminate the everyday roadblocks to their success. Jay has an innate ability to relate the trials of life and business in a way that everyone can relate to … Cars and Driving!

He has never been afraid to have a difference of opinion or shake up the status quo. He believes that regularly moving out of your comfort zone and improving your performance are key to personal and professional success and satisfaction.

In high school and college he didn’t reside in just one group, he knew all the groups and built connections and transferred opportunities amongst those different groups. He continues to do that by working in a variety of industries and transferring ideas between different industries.

A few unique facts about Jay:

  • He has been riding motorcycle since he was 7 years old.
  • He made an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show.
