With a rapid shift in digital transformation, technology has become critical to create a successful event. Throughout the entire event lifecycle - from registration software and event apps to marketing automation tools, social media and data analytics, it’s important to have a deep understanding of different applications and their functionalities in an integrated tech environment.

As events further evolve in both complexity and size, it is no longer feasible to expect organisers to manage event technology. From sourcing venues, coordinating with vendors, managing various resources and ensuring all aspects of the event are executed to the last detail, event organisers have already way too much on their plates. And according to research, only 38% of event organisers consider themselves confident technology users, while only 20% were tech-savvy.

This has given rise to a new role of an event technologist – a dedicated tech person who has in-depth knowledge of various tools and technologies required to execute a successful event, and also stays abreast of new and emerging tech in the event industry landscape. That means monitoring trends, understanding data flow in an integrated tech stack, setting up back-end processes and systems correctly, and a lot more.

Download Cvent’s latest eBook ‘Rise of the Event Technologist’ to get a precise understanding of the role of an event technologist and how different organisations are leveraging it to create better events.
