MPI UK & Ireland Chapter raises money for Meeting Needs

We were delighted when earlier this year MPI reached out to us to propose a fundraiser for Meeting Needs at their September Round Table event, hosted at the iconic Hyatt Regency Churchill Hotel in London.

Securing some fabulous prizes for a raffle including 2 flights to anywhere in the world donated by All About Flights, MPI put on a raffle and an amazing £2690 was raised by the generous industry professionals in the room.

These funds will go directly towards supporting a project run by the charity, Livingstone Tanzania. It will help provide bunk beds for 80 young girls in Sigino Secondary School in Tanzania.

The school is attended by girls from rural families living in poverty. The girls can now sleep at the school during the week, meaning they will no longer need to walk several kilometres each day to and from school, and they’ll stay safe, protected from the sexual exploitation that can be common. In the longerterm girls’ grades will improve, giving them better opportunities in life.

Meeting Needs is our industry charity and was founded by leading figures in our industry in 2004. Since then we have distributed more than £1 million to worthwhile causes in the UK and around the world that do not have access to other funds. Our board is made up of volunteers from the events industry, and our careful due diligence of projects ensure that donations go directly to those that need them most.

Around 40% of our grants go to support projects in the UK, with the balance internationally. Many of the projects that we support are for small charities who seldom have a voice and where our grants can have a direct and lasting impact.

All funds are raised by our fantastic industry individuals through raffles, challenges like The Royal Parks Half Marathon and other fundraising initiatives.
