Micebook unveiled their first publication dedicated to shining a spotlight on 50 inspiring female agency leaders in the UK events industry on International Women’s Day 2022.

The publication was officially launched at ME London on the 8th March, where 50 successful female owners and directors were brought together at an exclusive event to celebrate their achievements and inspire the next generation of female leaders, together with the wider community.

More than 100 female event profs gathered, including most of the Power 50 along with aspiring leaders from within their businesses, for an afternoon of thought-provoking content sessions, including a panel exploring the key pathways to leadership, workshops, and a keynote session with Tara Ruttley, NASA chief scientist and keynote speaker.

They were joined by members of the wider UK events community for an evening celebration.

Micebook started this journey a year ago on International Women’s Day 2021 with a virtual meeting during lockdown, which brought together around 20 female leaders for an open and honest exchange about the challenges of female leadership throughout the pandemic.

This was followed by further virtual and in-person meetings throughout the year, and one of the key outcomes of these meetings was the desire to inspire the next generation of female leaders. Micebook felt that showcasing the achievements of 50 inspirational female agency owners and directors on International Women’s Day 2022 would be the perfect way to do that.

This Power 50 is not a ranking, or by any means a definitive list of inspiring women in our sector (we know there are so many more in the agency world and beyond), but rather a snapshot in time and a celebration of how far we have come. There was a time, in the not-too-distant past, when board rooms were dominated by men and there were few women leaders in the agency world.

Micebook are not shining the spotlight on these leaders because they are women, but strongly believe that the fact there are now so many powerful female role models is worth celebrating, even more so after the rollercoaster of the past two years.

Some of these women were made managing directors just before, or during the pandemic, and despite the many challenges they have faced, all have survived the toughest time our industry has ever faced and come out the other side, with a renewed passion and drive to build back better.

Cathy Joyce- Global Sales Director - MICE, UK & Ireland at Melia Hotels International proudly sponsored the event.

''Women are truly the backbone of our industry and we were delighted to partner with Micebook on this prestigious event to shine a spotlight on events agency leaders and celebrate international women's day."

If you’re an aspiring leader in the events industry, Micebook Power 50 is packed with inspiring stories and achievements and explores some of the different pathways to the leadership in more detail - download it here.
